Summer is in full swing, and while guests are arriving at Grand Solmar at Rancho San Lucas, there is a lot happening in Los Cabos! The Los Cabos Open Tennis tournament wraps up at the end of July and in early August, there are many other festivals and tournaments getting ready to kick-off. Los Cabos has changed from a more seasonal destination being popular in the winter months, to being a year round destination. While it is warmer in Los Cabos in the summer, there are still several festivals and events to experience and enjoy.
Fishing is a very popular summer and fall activity in Los Cabos. While most of the fishing tournaments happen during the summer and fall, as the warm and cool waters meeting off the coast of Southern Baja, make for great fishing.
The first Bisbee tournament is held in August on the East Cape. This Billfish tournament is an exciting tournament to watch or enroll in as an angler. For visitors wanting to see the action, a 1 and a half drive from Rancho San Lucas, via the new toll roads, you can find the town of Los Barriles on the East Cape. This is a great opportunity to have a drink and enjoy the small town while watching the weigh scales closely to see the fish being brought in. While it is hot on the East Cape, the snorkeling is great, and there are several fun water sports or ATV tours to take nearby and enjoy the area.

Surfers of course from Cabo and all over the world will participate in this competition and visitors can sit back in the shade with a cool margarita or beer and watch the surfers ride the waves. Of course, you cannot beat the view, and the action is really fun and entertaining for all. For families this is a lot of fun, being on the beach, kids can run and play nearby while adults enjoy the competition and the cool breeze and view.

September is also ‘Mes de La Patria’, or Heritage month, leading up to the big celebration on the 16th! During September many restaurants will feature traditional Mexican dishes as their specials, from Chiles, Moles, and other well-known creations. It is a great month to truly experience Mexico and the culture aside from Tequila and beer and tacos, while those will all still be available of course!
